Optician Apprentice - Roswell, GA
The Optician Apprentice will be trained from the ground up on how to utilize the necessary skills to become a full Optician.
Training will be conducted by an Optician, Optometrist, and additional eye care staff to ensure accuracy and efficiency. Hands on, verbal, and online review of all materials will be closely monitored as the apprentice progresses. Attention to detail is of the utmost importance.
Optician Apprentice Responsibilities and Training:
Comprehension of patient charts, and utilizing prescriptions for eyeglasses and contact lenses
Dispensing, fitting, and adjusting eyewear
Contact lens insertion and removal
Insurance verification, authorization, application, and filing
Implementation and notation of visual field tests, fundus photography, autorefraction/keratometry, tonometry, and lensometer neutralization
Detailed understanding and ability to explain human anatomy as it relates to the eye
Optical formulas and theory
Customer service and sales skills to promote a satisfactory experience for each patient
Assisting staff and clients during private eyewear events hosted at the boutique during business hours
Additional duties include assisting team members to complete tasks, reporting, organization, attending team meetings, and opening/closing
Optician Apprentice Qualifications Required:
Stable work history (and/or strong academic background)
Professional & personal recommendations
Experience and/or education in medical/retail/sales/customer service is a plus
Charismatic personality and willingness to speak with others
Team player and easy to work with

This is a full-time position and part-time positions are possible based on need. Current hours of business operation are Tuesday through Saturday. (Operational hours are subject to change as the practice grows.)

Please only apply if you are a LICENSED OPTICIAN with a current ABO/NCLE and/or state license OR if you have at least 5 years of full-time experience. Otherwise, you may apply for our optician apprentice position above.
The Optician position will entail on the duties of a dispensing Optician, as well as expanding on your skills in other areas:
Eyeglass and spectacle lens fitting, adjustments, and trouble shooting
Contact lenses including specialty contact lenses, fitting, dispensing, insertion and removal, and assisting the optometrist and staff
Pretesting and patient workup and assisting the optometrist with maintaining excellent patient flow and experience
Opening and closing procedures, inventory management, reporting, maintaining store appearance, marketing, and attending events
Additional duties, such as lens tinting and edging, may be discussed during the interview
We are looking for a charismatic and outgoing individual who is proficient in the field of opticianry.
