Marianne Faithfull x Jacques Marie Mage

Few women wore darkness as beautifully as Marianne Faithfull. Her oversized sunglasses became a symbol of mystery and defiance, both a shield and a statement. Her eyewear wasn’t just an accessory, it was a signature etched into pop culture.

Marianne’s influence lives on in the specially commemorated new release of Jacques Marie Mage’s “Marianne Faithfull” collection, a series of bold silhouettes that echo her tenacity and talent.

Marianne Faithfull’s journey began not in the clubs of Soho, but in the coffeehouses of 1964, when her voice captured the melancholy of “As Tears Go By.” Discovered by Andrew Loog Oldham and swept into the inner circle of The Rolling Stones, she quickly became more than Mick Jagger’s girlfriend—she was a muse of counterculture cool.

With her high cheekbones and fringe-cut blonde hair, Marianne often wore oversized, dark-rimmed sunglasses that were part mod, part rock-n-roll. Whether photographed leaving the Savoy or walking beside Mick Jagger, her shades were ever-present.

Marianne taught us that eyewear isn’t just about vision, it’s about identity. Style is power. And sometimes, the right pair of sunglasses can speak louder than any chorus.

The EVELYN frame by Jacques Marie Mage is a collector’s dream—an oversized square silhouette meticulously handcrafted in Japan from 10 mm polished acetate. Every detail, from the double-laminated temples to the dark gold–plated 7-barrel hinges, reflects the brand’s devotion to architectural precision and luxury craftsmanship.

Named after the classic 1966 hit covered by Marianne Faithfull and featured on her 1987 compilation album, “Marianne Faithfull’s Greatest Hits,” the Monday Monday colorway features deep black acetate with tortoise interiors on the double-laminated temples. This version of EVELYN exudes drama and poise, recalling the cinematic presence of Marianne Faithfull during her iconic 1967 court appearances.

The Yesterday colorway channels a softer, reflective mood, featuring polished agar acetate with translucent beige exteriors and agar interiors. Named for the song The Beatles song “Yesterday,” famously covered by Marianne Faithfull with Paul McCartney’s assistance for her 1965 album “Go Away From The World,” this variant embodies grace and quiet elegance.
